OLD AGUATA UNION (OAU) DECLARES TOTAL SUPPORT FOR GOV SOLUDO'S RE-ELECTION: DISTANCES SELF FROM PROF ORAJIAKA'S POSITION ON THE GOVERNOR

The Old Aguata Union (OAU) in their _Ime Obi_ meeting held at the country home of the group's  National Leader, Chief Godwin Uchime, on November 6, 2025, declared unequivocally their total support for Gov Soludo's re-election on November 8, 2025.

Speaking in his welcome address, Chief Uchime said that Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, the executive Governor of Anambra State and the proud son of the Old Aguata Union, performed so creditably well that the whole country is hailing him in all aspects of leadership. According to him, OAU is extremely proud to have Gov Soludo as their son. He added that the Union intentionally kept quiet, watching in cheerful amazement as other regions in Anambra hail and endorse the governor for the second term.
"As Gov Soludo goes around receiving accolades, endorsements and free will financial donations in support for his second term campaign fund from numerous individuals, communities and groups, we at OAU are watching with happiness and pride, saying in our hearts:  _'this is our beloved son in whom we are well pleased"_, Chief Uchime said.

Several dignitaries - representing the National and State Executives of the Union (men and women wings), Chairman of Presidents General of Anambra South Communities, Chairmen of Presidents General of Aguata LG, Orumba South and Orumba North, Soludo Support group of OAU extraction - all spoke, each narrating dozens of reasons why governor Soludo should complete his eighth years tenure in office. They equally noted that the governor left indelible marks in old Aguata with outstanding infrastructural developments. Furthermore, they saw it as the right of Anambra South for Gov Soludo to have an 8 years shot at the gubernatorial position - noting that the Anambra South and Anambra North each had their 8 years in their times.

In his speech, Hon Dr Ben Nwankwo, Ishingidi Orumba, said proverbially that what he is expecting on Nov 8 is a heavy rain - with thunderstorm - in old Aguata communities for Soludo. To that effect, he challenged all the PGs of the towns in the region to mobilize their citizens for massive turnout in the election in favour of Governor Soludo. According to Ishingidi, our bloc vote is all that's needed to appreciate the governor for all he did for old Aguata, as well as greater plans he has for them in his second tenure.

The meeting also made serious remarks on a statement credited to Prof Orajiaka, former Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and one time President of Old Aguata Union. Orajiaka was quoted to have said that Gov Soludo underperformed in his first tenure.

Drawing the union's attention to this reckless and baseless statement of Orajiaka, Chief Innocent Ike-Ibe, Omenka of Akpu, described the statement as a blackmail on the old Aguata region. Several other speakers wondered why Prof Orajiaka would play such   a betrayal role, some alluding that he may have received the opposition's 30 pisces of Silver to sell his brother who has been honoured with a number of global awards for outstanding performance.

In the end, the meeting agreed to do a communique in which it would, among other things, dissociate self from Prof Orajiaka's statement.

Old Aguata Union comprises of the three local governments - present Aguata LGA, Orumba South LGA and Orumba North LGA - which came from the former Aguata LGA. The three LGs have remained a very powerful united political bloc in Anambra State and have been influencing the outcome of political decisions in the state. The union's _imeobi_ takes critical decisions on important issues concerning the region.
