THE 2 DR BENS IN ORUMBA

Image
By Okey Emmanuel ODEWAIWAI There are defining moments in the life of a people—rare seasons when history, leadership, and opportunity converge to reshape destiny. For Orumba, that moment appears to be now. Once a formidable political bloc in Anambra State, Orumba’s influence was built on the shoulders of visionary patriarchs—men of courage, intellect, and strategic depth. Figures like Igwe Chief M.N. Ugochukwu, High Chief E.C.I. Onuigbo, Chief T.N. Madu, and the iconic Chief Alex Ekwueme did not merely occupy positions; they defined an era. Under their stewardship, Orumba commanded respect, negotiated power, and shaped the political direction of the state. Over time, however, that dominance waned, giving way to a quieter presence in the political landscape. But history has a way of repeating itself—especially when a people are anchored in resilience and collective memory.   Today, a new chapter is unfolding. At the center of this resurgence s...

OMENKA N'AKPUJIOGU

OMENKA N'AKPUJIOGU - THE BEAUTY BEHIND THE CURVES AND THE COURTYARDS By Okey Emmanuel ODEWAIWAI Great architects know that true architectural beauty lies behind the curves and the courtyards. While this write up would not give me time to assay the concept of curves and courtyards, I would borrow the idea to describe a man who, in present time, is behind most progressive moves in the ancient town of Akpu, otherwise known as Akpujiogu.  Am talking of no mean man: a man of personality well known across old Aguata region and the entire Anambra State. A true son of Akpu. Many love him, many don't. I do not only love him. I jealous him.  Engr Innocent Ike-Ibe is the man. OMENKA n'Akpujiogu. He's a man clothed by God Almighty with a coat of many colours - as far as natural endowments are concerned. In my village event few days ago, my jealousy for him grew taller. He stole the show with jokes and comic speeches. When he stood to dance, all eyes glued on...

OLD AGUATA UNION (OAU) DECLARES TOTAL SUPPORT FOR GOV SOLUDO'S RE-ELECTION: DISTANCES SELF FROM PROF ORAJIAKA'S POSITION ON THE GOVERNOR By Okey Emmanuel ODEWAIWAI The Old Aguata Union (OAU) in their _Ime Obi_ meeting held at the country home of the group's  National Leader, Chief Godwin Uchime, on November 6, 2025, declared unequivocally their total support for Gov Soludo's re-election on November 8, 2025. Speaking in his welcome address, Chief Uchime said that Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, the executive Governor of Anambra State and the proud son of the Old Aguata Union, performed so creditably well that the whole country is hailing him in all aspects of leadership. According to him, OAU is extremely proud to have Gov Soludo as their son. He added that the Union intentionally kept quiet, watching in cheerful amazement as other regions in Anambra hail and endorse the governor for the second term.  "As Gov Soludo goes around receiving accolades, end...

Image
AKPU MY BELOVED TOWN: MAY THIS OCTOBER MARK A SPECIAL TURNAROUND IN OUR LIVES I feel highly delighted to wake up this morning and realize it's Nigeria's 65th Independence.  As I meditate, my beloved town Akpu stood in my face. And I prayed. My prayer is that God shall remember Ndî Akpu in a special way this remaining part of the year. This is more so as we prepare to celebrate Akpu Day / Mass Return on December 31, 2025. My prayer is that God will bless and multiply in one thousand fold the works of your hand. Yes, it is God that says whatever you lay your hand to do He shall prosper. That God that lifts someone from the dust bin to the palace; that God that fetched David from ikpà nkwà and crowned him King of Israel, that same God shall lift you - Onyè Akpu - to such a high level in your society to the amazement of the people. I pray that in no distant future, a good number of Ndî Akpu shall become leading figures and personalities in Anambra State.  I am praying ...

"RUN TO THE FARM", ERIC DONALDSON

Image
HAD I UNDERSTOOD THE REGGAE ARTISTE THEN - I WOULD HAVE BEEN A MULTI MILLIONAIRE FARMER TODAY!   By Okey Emmanuel ODEWAIWAI When in my secondary school days I was devouring the sweet melody of Eric Donaldson -  the unbeatable reggae artiste of his time - little did I know he was admonishing us to run to the farm. Yes, every reggae line then was a pack of message, but we were all engrossed in the melody and the typical rhythmic dance step. In the attached music, Eric Donaldson was calling Jamaicans to run to the farm - that was in the early '80s. He was calling everyone - students, those wearing dreadlocks, the Baldheaded, even those with screw face, all were admonished to run to the farm. Had I listened, had I understood him, if I had gotten the relics and heed to his call, today I would have been a millionaire farmer. Now consider this: my family had a very large empty land. If, for example I had planted 20 palm trees every year - from when the music was released...
